Physics Colloquium on 07.11.2022: Geometry and anomalies in Dirac matter

02.11.22 | Event

On Monday (07.11.22) at 12.00 pm c.t. the next meeting of our Physics Colloquium will take place.

The speaker will be Prof. María A. H. Vozmediano (CSIC, Madrid) on the topic: "Geometry and anomalies in Dirac matter".

The recognition and proper description of quantum anomalies have been a pillar in the construction of quantum field theory. Aside from the axial anomaly, the consequences of quantum anomalies involving the spacetime geometry as mixed axial-gravitational or conformal anomalies, are more difficult to test in the high energy context. The advent of Weyl semimetals in 2015 opened new ways to realize and evaluate anomaly related transport phenomena. In this talk I will describe novel response functions associated to various anomalies in Dirac matter.

Abstract lecture Prof. María A. H. Vozmediano

The introduction will be given by Prof. Dr. Michael Scherer.

The faculty cordially invites all interested parties. The event will take place in lecture hall HNC 10 and hybrid via Zoom. Before the colloquium we offer coffee and cookies.
