The Department Physics and Astronomy is firmly committed to diversity, tolerance, and the fundamental values of democracy. We take a strong stand against all forms of extremism, discrimination, and exclusion. Our goal is to foster a respectful and open community that gives everyone the opportunity to contribute and be recognized.
In light of the recent right-wing extremist incidents and attacks on our university, it is more important than ever to take a stand together. Therefore, all members of Ruhr-Universität are invited to come together on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 12 noon in front of the GA building (level 02, north side). Under the motto "Diversity is our Strength", the Rectorate will give a speech. Together, we want to send a clear signal for cohesion, openness and a democratic society.
We call Department all students, staff, and faculty members in Department to participate in this important event and thus demonstrate our shared conviction: Our campus stands for respect, diversity, and solidarity—and against hate, hate speech, and intolerance.
Let's set an example together - for a university that stands for tolerance, diversity and democracy!
