On July 1, 2022, the Department Physics and Astronomy will unveil a new logo.
The new logo combines the Greek letter “Phi” (Φ), a common symbol for physics, with an “A” for astronomy. The stylized “A” in the logo also evokes the image of a coal mine’s winding tower, symbolizing the Department strong ties Department Bochum and the Ruhr region. The original idea for the new logo came from within the Department and was subsequently refined by a graphic designer.
All units within Department asked to gradually replace the old logo on documents, business letters, etc.; however, in the interest of sustainability, they should first use up existing materials, if available.
You can download the logo files and some Microsoft Office templates with the new logo in the "Documents & Downloads" download. If you need other file formats or have feedback or requests for further templates, please contact Saskia Baron, our Public Relations Officer ().
