On 01.07.2022, the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy will get a new logo.
The new logo combines the sign "Phi" (Φ) as a general symbol for physics with an "A" for astronomy. At the same time, the stylised "A" in the logo is reminiscent of the winding tower of a coal mine and thus symbolises the faculty's local ties to Bochum and the Ruhr region. The original idea for the new logo came from the faculty itself and was subsequently revised by a graphic designer.
All areas of the faculty are requested to gradually change the old logo on documents, business letters, etc., but in the spirit of sustainability to first use up old materials, if available.
