The Department Physics and Astronomy mourns the loss of Dr. Udo Arendt.
After a long and serious illness, Dr. Udo Arendt passed away on March 22, 2023.
Udo Arendt earned his Ph.D. in 1991 from the Chair of Theoretical Space and Astrophysics at Ruhr University Bochum and subsequently Department tirelessly for more than two decades as a research assistant in the Department . He was able to contribute his diverse expertise in various fields, initially as Department IT coordinator, but increasingly in both teaching and numerous committees within the Department at Ruhr University Bochum. In addition, he was also very active outside the university, for example as a long-standing board member of the German Unix User Group.

With the passing of Mr. Arendt, the Department has lost Department highly competent, dedicated, and helpful colleague who was deeply appreciated by both his colleagues and students.
We will remember Udo Arendt with fondness and gratitude.
