On Monday, January 8, 2024, at 12:00 c.t., the next date of our Physics Colloquium will take place.
The speaker is Prof. Dr. Franceso Knechtli (University of Wuppertal) on the topic of "Glueballs and Friends".
Confinement is a fundamental property of the theory of strong interactions and predicts the formation of states made of gluons alone called glueballs. An experimental confirmation of the existence of glueballs is still missing since mixing with other hadrons makes identification difficult. I will present results for the energy of states from Monte Carlo calculations of the strong interactions on the lattice where the light quarks are given larger than physical masses, simplifying the mixing problem.
Abstract of the lecture by Prof. Knechtli
The introduction will be given by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Wiedner.
The Department cordially Department all interested parties. The event will take place in Lecture Hall HZO 20. Coffee and cookies will be served before the colloquium.
