Every semester we offer information events on the topic of "Studying physics abroad". The next information event will take place on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 3 p.m. in NB 02/134 will take place. Further information can be found in the current event poster.

study worldwide - Experience It!

If you are interested in studying abroad but are not yet sure where to go and which program might suit you, we recommend the information service "studieren weltweit - Erlebe Es!" from the DAAD and the BMBF. Students of different disciplines report about their experiences, there is information about different programs and countries you can visit. Additionally there are the brochures "Internship abroad" and "Studying abroad" and as well as the new "study worldwide - the podcast!

Erasmus

Here you can find information on Erasmus, the EU's funding programme. The exchange places of the programme are subject-specific. As a student at RUB, you can study at foreign universities where there is an Erasmus cooperation with your department.

Partner universities

We are internationally linked with many renowned universities. This makes it easier than ever for our students to plan a stay abroad. You can use the MoveOn tool to quickly and easily find out which partner universities are suitable for your stay abroad.

UNIC

The universities in the UNIC network offer virtual teaching and learning opportunities that can be used by all students and teachers at the partner universities. As a RUB student, you can easily take a course at another university from home.

Erasmus internship

If you are planning an internship abroad in Europe that is at least 60 days long, you can get Erasmus work placement grant apply. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, but must be received at least one month before the start of the internship.

International teaching

Some time ago, the DAAD launched a new support programme for prospective teachers, Lehramt.International. Applicants can receive funding for a self-organised internship at school institutions abroad for one to six months. This can be a voluntary internship, but also a compulsory internship.

Institute Ranke-Heinemann

For students interested in studying abroad in Australia or New Zealand, the Institut Ranke-Heinemann offers numerous funding opportunities. Would you like to spend a semester studying "Down Under"? Then there are numerous ways to financially support your studies there.

Short stays abroad

If you do not want to spend a whole semester abroad, there are still numerous opportunities for a short stay. Whether it's a language course, summer or winter school, the International Office will introduce you to various options for short visits. Brochure: "Language Courses & Summer Schools Abroad"

RISE worldwide

Bachelor students in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, geosciences, computer science and related disciplines (e.g. medicine, psychology) have the opportunity with "RISE worldwide" to work with researchers around the world who want to include German students in their research group to provide practical support for their project. Please check the programme page for upcoming projects and deadlines.

Self-organised study visits

Even though RUB offers you as a student many options for a stay abroad, you are also free to organise your stay yourself. The DAAD and private placement organisations can help you with the organisation.

LabExchange

The LabExchange programme can support students who are planning a research-oriented stay abroad. The targeted integration of students in international research contexts is intended to initiate and consolidate lasting cooperation structures. The aim is for international research cooperation at RUB to have a stronger impact on university teaching.

PROMOS scholarships

The German Academic Exchange Service promotes the mobility of PROMOS moves! promotes the mobility of students and doctoral candidates at German universities. As a RUB student, you can also apply for a PROMOS scholarship and receive funding for a one-semester stay abroad, for example (cannot be combined with Erasmus stays).

PROMOS stays for the preparation of the final thesis

Funding is available for a stay abroad of between four weeks and a maximum of six months to complete your thesis. Please check the pages of the International Office for current application deadlines.

PROMOS internships

If you would like to complete a study-related internship outside of Europe, your stay can be funded by PROMOS from a duration of six weeks to a maximum of three months. Information on application deadlines and requirements can be found on the pages of the International Office.

Information for doctoral students

With its "Research Around the World" programme, the RUB Research School offers doctoral students various opportunities to spend time abroad.

Contact persons at the International Office

The Outbound Mobility Services team is your contact for all concerns regarding your stay abroad. In Zoom consultation hours, for example, you can get advice on the various exchange programmes at RUB. 

BaföG abroad

Finally, it is now possible to apply forBAföG abroad online. In addition to the traditional method of printing out, filling out and sending applications by post, the digital version is now also possible. This makes it easier to meet deadlines and should also speed up processing.
