Foreign language skills are usually indispensable for a stay abroad. In addition, students need certified language certificates for many funding programmes. On this page, we present various offers for obtaining language certificates as well as opportunities for language exchange.

DAAD Language Certificate

The Centre for Foreign Language Education (ZFA) at RUB offers you up to ten dates a year, depending on the language, at which you can take the test for a DAAD language certificate. If you need a language certificate for a scholarship provider other than the DAAD, the ZFA can also advise you.

Standardised international tests

You can take a number of internationally standardised language examinations at the ZFA. Visit the ZFA website to find out about the exams currently offered and the dates they can be taken.

Attention: As of April 2022, the RUB ZFA is no longer an IELTS (English) venue. Should you wish to take an IELTS test, you will have to plan a journey to another examination venue.

International students put their hands together

German as a foreign language

Except for the English-language Master's, our degree programmes are offered in German. International students therefore need proof of their language skills. Please inform yourself about accepted language certificates. If you do not have sufficient language skills, you can apply online for a study-preparatory German course.
